Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
