Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.

Viewers can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
