Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

It said wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
