The Fresh Branding for the UK's National Rail Body is Uncovered.
The UK government has presented the branding for Great British Railways, constituting a significant stride in its agenda to take the railways back into state hands.
A Patriotic Palette and Familiar Symbol
The new livery uses a red, white and blue colour scheme to mirror the UK flag and will be applied on GBR trains, at railway stations, and across its website and app.
Notably, the logo is the distinctive twin-arrow logo currently used by the national rail network and previously designed in the mid-20th century for British Rail.
The Rollout Timeline
The implementation of the new look, which was developed by the department, is expected to take place in phases.
Commuters are expected to begin noticing the newly-branded services throughout the network from the coming spring.
During the month of December, the visuals will be exhibited at major railway stations, such as Leeds City.
The Journey to Nationalisation
The legislation, which will enable the formation of GBR, is currently progressing through the Parliament.
The administration has stated it is taking control of the railways so the service is "run by the passengers, working for the people, not for profit."
Great British Railways will consolidate the operation of passenger trains and infrastructure under a single organisation.
The department has said it will unify 17 various organisations and "cut through the problematic bureaucracy and accountability gap that has long affected the railways."
App-Based Services and Existing Public Control
The launch of Great British Railways will also feature a dedicated mobile application, which will let customers to check timetables and book journeys without booking fees.
Passengers with disabilities travellers will also be have the option to use the app to book support.
Multiple franchises had earlier been nationalised under the previous government, such as Southeastern.
There are now 7 train operators already in state ownership, covering about a one-third of rail travel.
In the past year, South Western Railway have been brought into public ownership, with additional operators likely to follow in the coming years.
Ministerial and Industry Response
"The new design is not simply a cosmetic change," commented the relevant minister. It signifies "a fresh start, casting off the issues of the previous system and concentrated solely on delivering a genuine public service."
Rail leaders have welcomed the government's commitment to enhancing services.
"We will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders to facilitate a successful changeover to Great British Railways," one executive noted.
