Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of large-scale manufacturing for a new domestically developed defensive UAV to reinforce its air defences. The first three producers have begun manufacturing, with 11 more preparing to establish production lines, Ukrainian military officials stated this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Combat Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a domestically developed system called “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and proved successful “at night, under jamming and flying low,” officials stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a target of manufacturing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Latest Attack on the Capital Described as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and wicked” following six individuals lost their lives and many others injured in a series of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Alert systems activated in Kyiv just after midnight this past Friday, with Shahed drones soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.
